18 Days until Stacey and I move to….

… the Gold Coast of Australia!

I have been accepted to the Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPhty) program at Bond University! This is a huge honor for me because the program receives thousands of applicants and only accepts about 35 students per intake. And, of those 35 students, Bond limits the number of international students who are accepted to about 10. I think in my particular intake, the university only accepted 6 or 7 international students! The university does this because there is a high need for Physiotherapists in Australia and they don’t want students receiving degrees and then leaving the country…

Bond University is located on the shores of Varsity Lakes, about 4km from the beaches of the Gold Coast! The Gold Coast is home to miles and miles of pristine beaches and is only about an hour south of Brisbane.

My program is a 2 year program with 3 semesters per year, so no breaks. The same program here in the States takes 3 years because students have summers off. The best part is that my degree will allow me to work in Australia & New Zealand and it is recognized in the US. All I have to do is pass the boards for the state in which I want to practice.

My program commences on May 13th but Stace and I are heading down a couple of months early to enjoy the area and get settled in before school starts. This move is going to be quite the undertaking. We are going to be in Australia for a minimum of 2 years. I am willing to bet we will stay longer as it should be easy for me to get a job once I graduate. We aren’t going to have a car and we can really only take clothes and a couple other items with us!   Bond5

A couple of guys made an awesome video about their experience studying abroad at Bond University. Check it out!
